The TallGrass Blog
I belong to one of our local Rotary groups – The Rotary Club of Evergreen. I love Rotary’s motto “Service Above Self” and I’ve experienced the power and joy of participating in service projects with this amazing group. These people – and others like them – have had a huge influence on my life and on the ways TallGrass’s community outreach has grown and changed over the years. When we started our Soldier Box Project almost 10 years ago, my Rotary group was a big reason that this idea took hold.
Next week, our TallGrass team will pack boxes of toiletries and other items collected from groups and individuals throughout our community. Service organizations like Kiwanis, Elks, other Rotary groups, schools, churches, book clubs, senior centers, and neighbors have dropped-off items to send to our troops serving in harm’s way. Together, we’ll help make our military men and women feel a bit of comfort and love from home during the holidays.
This is just one way to participate in “Service Above Self” and I can’t emphasize enough how wonderful it feels to help someone else. I’m certain that you’ve experienced this incredible feeling when you reach out and put your focus on service. It’s powered by love and it changes the world. Thank you for all you do to help others.
We’re changing the world together!
