Message from Gail Ridings, TallGrass Owner
Perspective. It always helps me.
I had the privilege of meeting and hearing a talk by Arok Garang, one of the "Lost Boys of Sudan," at a recent Rotary meeting. For those of you who have not heard this incredible story, thousands of young boys walked 1,000 miles from Sudan to Ethiopia after their parents were killed by rebels. Arok, who was 7 at the time, lived through an unbelievably difficult ordeal at such a young age. After hearing him speak, I wanted to get to know him
better and invited him to a dinner party this past weekend. Speaking to him certainly put my current issues in perspective. I'm sure you'll agree that, though things may seem tough sometimes, there are hundreds of thousands of people enduring much, much worse. In November, we celebrate our 20th anniversary! I can't believe it's been 20 years! Instead of coordinating a fashion show benefit this year, we're focusing on giving back to a group of people who are enduring hardships for our country: our soldiers. We are increasing our goal from 30 to 100 Soldier Boxes for the November holiday shipment to troops in Afghanistan. And, we need your help! More details are below in this newsletter.
And, to honor our women in the military, we are giving away 50 free $100 treatments to military women who currently serve or are veterans. We are accepting names for a lottery drawing for services to be given away during the week of November 9 through 13. All military women are welcome to call TallGrass with their military ID and they will be put on the list to be selected.
We are so excited and honored to celebrate our anniversary by raising our level of participation with our Soldier Box Project and honoring women in the military. Please share information about these programs with everyone you know and invite them to get involved. More information follows.
