Many years ago, the TallGrass team formulated ten core values that we use in our daily operations.
All of our decisions and actions, including employee reviews, are based on our value statements. One of them is "We care for the environment." One reason we originally chose Aveda to be our product line was their environmental focus. As the years went by, we decided to bring on an additional product line -- Eminence -- because they, too, are focused on providing the highest quality organic products.
This September, the universe gave me huge boost of encouragement for my involvement in helping the environment. First, was an incredible visit to the Eminence Organic Farm outside of Budapest, Hungary. My friends and I were treated to an amazing tour to see how Eminence's biodynamically certified methods produce the highest possible level of organic farming. Then, back in Evergreen last week, I volunteered at our Rotary's recycling event. Our community turned out in droves and we collected
everything from styrofoam to paint to tires to mattresses to TV's. It was so good to see these items not end up in a landfill. To top off the month, TallGrass received an award for our company's environmental practices. I was inspired to apply for this recognition from the State of Colorado after seeing other environmentally responsible businesses in Evergreen that already were Colorado Green Business Network members. The recognition event was yesterday at the Denver Zoo, another organization
that is focused on the environment!
Personally, in my home life, I can do better to help our planet. I can be more careful with water usage, buy less items containing any plastic, and start a compost pile. If we each did a tiny bit more, we would change our planet's future.
Being outside in nature is probably my most favorite activity, in any season, doing anything. I certainly hope that our children's children will be able to appreciate it as much as I do. I'm sure you hope the same. Thank you for your continuing support of TallGrass and the environment!!
