July 2022
During our weekly lunch meeting, Mel (our fabulous Spa Director and a dear friend) and I were exclaiming our joy, wonder, and love for the incredible summers here in Evergreen – the weather, flowers, vegetable gardens, baby animals, barbeques, hikes, swimming. We mused: "Would we appreciate the summer as much if we had more than four months of it?" The answer is: "YES, WE WOULD!" 😊
Unfortunately, despite my best efforts, I have not been able to convince summer to hang on any longer. So, the choice is to stay in the day and fully embrace every moment. Waking at 5 a.m. and, even before my coffee, immediately putting my goats out and, later in the day, going outside for a horseback ride or a walk is just incredible. I will do my best not to wish I had more of this season (just like I sometimes wish there was just one more spoonful of ice cream).
I hope you have planned a visit to see us this summer. While the fireplace is so cozy and comforting in winter, right now the gardens, hummingbirds, and fresh air in our valley are breathtaking!
Don't forget our summertime tradition – the Super Sudsy Dog Wash. It's on Saturday, July 30, at Ambary Gardens in Kittredge, from 10 to 3. It's loads of fun for dogs – all ages and breeds and sizes and shapes – and their parents, too. We hope to have a few dogs available for adoption from EAPL. $20 gets you a wash from our team and a CBD spritzer (or just a plain one). We have a photo booth (pictured here) with props for you and your pup. Hilarious!!!
