Message from Gail Sharp
January 2022
On New Year's Day, I read this in my meditation book: "The year stretches out before me as a blank canvas inviting my unique designs and bright colors." And this: "A receptive, eager attitude for the coming year opens my heart to all the joy I am about to create."
Yes, once again, we hope and plan for a wonderful year ahead and yet we've just come through two pretty darn difficult years, made even worse for us here in Colorado with the horrific Boulder County fire. So many heartbreaking happenings! And, while I certainly don't want to ignore these tough times, I was thinking this morning of that wise man, Mr. Rogers, who said that in the midst of a disaster we must "look for the helpers."
That's what I aspire to be: a helper. Complaining, living in fear and anger is just not helpful. So, I will do my best this year to paint my blank canvas with love, compassion, understanding, and kindness. I'll try to just stay in the day, not getting too far ahead with worry and plans. If we can view each day with hope and courage, I think we can live a life focused on the good in the world.
I send best wishes for a bright, healthy, and loving 2022 to you and yours. May you be a helper, too!
