For the most part, I enjoy giving rather than receiving and you probably feel the same way, too – other than when we were kids, of course.
Receiving can sometimes feel embarrassing, undeserved, humbling. But, what delight we feel when we give something that someone loves, be it a gift, card, meal, hug, or a big surprise. I recently had a birthday and my family of choice, my dear friends, absolutely showered me with attention and love. I was overwhelmed for sure but so very grateful for their cards, gifts, parties, calls, texts!
Overwhelmed is the way I felt again when we sorted and stuffed toiletries into 412 string backpacks for homeless veterans. WOW, our community really came through in full force. They gave and gave and gave. Each backpack contained not only toiletries, but two pair of underwear (as requested by the homeless veteran center's manager), a greeting card, and a drawing from a grade school child. I certainly hope that these unfortunate men and women, in a tough time of their lives, felt the pleasure
and joy of receiving.
We at TallGrass cannot thank you enough for the gifts that you, our dear guests, give us daily. Your appreciation, relaxation, smiles, thanks, hugs, support, and love are what fuels us. We are so grateful. Thank you and may your holidays and 2022 bring health, peace, and joy to you.
This year, may we all be gracious and appreciative receivers. And givers too, of course!
