You know the phrase "wear your heart on your sleeve"? Well, I'm wearing mine on my lip. Yes, despite preventative measures, I have a nice cold sore which I'm guessing was triggered by stress.
This past month, I've been experiencing a crazy roller coaster ride of emotions. There have been super highs and devastating lows. At the top of the list are several "best one ever" parties, including a luau at my barn and a neighborhood Sweet Potato Festival, along with the JOY International Barefoot Walk (pictured above) for which we were able to donate over $3,000 – with your help, of course. In between, there were a couple of occasions when I exhibited such terrible behavior that
formal apologies were required and I felt huge remorse. But then, back to joy with lovely hikes and rides on my horse in stunning summer scenery with friends and my beloved animals.
Then came feelings of sorrow for friends struggling with serious illnesses and others who are in the process of dying. The absolute worst was a friend who experienced her newborn's death. To that mix, add the incredible challenges of fires, hurricanes, Afghanistan, and COVID. Akkkkkkkk!
In my consistent work through meditation, prayer, and spiritual readings, I have learned the best way to deal with my emotions is to recognize my feelings, feel them, and then move forward by appreciating and accepting what is in front of me and focusing on gratitude. I remain so blessed to work at TallGrass, to be healthy, and to have all of you for support and friendship. Thank you.
I saw something this morning that touched me. Maybe it will resonate with you, too. "Some of the best days of your life haven't happened yet. Keep going."
Let's all keep going together!
