April 2021
Spring takes a long time to arrive in Evergreen.
As I write this, we still have about six inches of snow along with huge piles of plowed snow in my pasture. Yet, there are tiny signs of things moving towards a return to fresh, new life. Just like our pandemic journey, little improvements are popping up everywhere. Depending on your opinion, we are moving too fast, or moving too slow, but no one can deny things are improving. YAY!!
As I've written time and again, I could miss the precious moments of change because of my desire to hurry up and get there now. So, starting today I'm reminding myself to rejoice in spring's slow gifts and the little improvements in my life. I will enjoy days when I don't have to wear a hat on my walk, and when I can watch my dogs rolling and digging in the snow, see geese and ducks gather around the holes of water in the ice on my pond, and see my horses and goats shedding.
Then, because I have been fully vaccinated, I felt safe enough last week to celebrate by getting on a plane and going inside restaurants and a movie theater. Before long, these things will become routine again.
So, for now, I encourage you to revel in each little change – be it spring or the pandemic. Don't miss this special time for a fresh start!
