December 2020
Okay, cross 2020 off the books. A year that none of us will ever forget. And now, looking forward to the new year, my focus is on HOPE.
Having no relatives now, I was alone during most of the holidays which was a bit tough since I just lost my beloved dog Pepper to liver cancer. So, on my Christmas Day walk without her, I witnessed this sight – my neighbors walking their four donkeys wearing Santa hats. That was pretty danged joyful! Along with many other little acts of joy around us, this infuses me with hope.
We are not out of the COVID tunnel yet, but the light at the end is getting brighter and brighter every day. So, although the pandemic still keeps us quiet, limited, and disconnected, hope is on the horizon! Just like our Colorado winters that can be long and dark and cold, we know that under the snow and frozen ground, life is still there, just resting, waiting for spring.
I send best wishes to you and your family and friends for a spectacular 2021 – bursting with health and hope and love. I'm ready for it and I'll bet you are, too!
PS: Our Healing Hearts mural has ended its display at the Center for the Arts in Evergreen and is coming back, all finished, to stay at TallGrass for a while. Look for it in our Quiet Room beginning the week of January 11. And, please, send me your suggestions for where you think this beautiful tribute to the power of healing love should live permanently.
