Message from Gail Sharp, TallGrass Owner
February 2020... I've said it before. Even though February is the "love" month, I'm not a big fan.
Arriving smack dab in the middle of winter, it's after the holidays, and my beloved National Western Stock Show is over. Signs of spring are far off. My pastures have clumps of icy snow, the horse manure in my corrals freezes, the wind is often howling, and temps are frigid. Blah!
Preparations for my daily goat/dog walk are lengthy since I get cold easier these days. I'm bundled up so much that I waddle. Yesterday, we set out – four goats, two dogs and me with two pairs of socks, wind pants over regular pants, waterproof boots, sweatshirt, parka, scarf, hat, gloves.
I was stumbling along in a bored haze when I thought: Okay, Gail! Look around. Listen. Find the beauty that's surrounding you. And, once I changed the way I perceived things, I found magic. Taking out my iPhone, I saw so many interesting, photo-worthy shots that I hadn't even noticed before (and I'm no photographer!). And then, for an incredible finale to my not-boring February walk, the sky turned every shade of orange!
I truly believe the universe/God was applauding my decision to change my outlook with a jaw dropping, stunning sunset gift.
What we focus on grows. I hope you are choosing to find the beauty, the love, the joy this month. Go February!
