 Message from Gail Sharp
One of my dearest friends, Annette, often says: Nothing stays the same. She speaks about change with an always positive, moving forward, accepting attitude. For many of the rest of us, changes can be scary or difficult or – at best – just different. We like things to stay the way they are!
I’m noticing, at this particular time in my life, that many peoples’ lives are in transition. Elderly parents are dying, kids are going off to college or moving to take jobs, folks are retiring and they’re experiencing new health and activity levels. It can be unsettling if you’re not prepared to go with the flow.
The Serenity Prayer helps: “God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.” In my life, I’ve found that oftentimes there are huge blessings in the changes that I’m fighting and fearing. Like, our summer turning into fall – I’ll do my best to go with it!
I hope that if you or your loved ones are facing change, you can ride the current of the universe’s river and not feel the need to paddle frantically.
