Message from Gail Sharp
While every one of our philanthropic events fills my heart with joy, our summertime dog wash to benefit Evergreen Animal Protective League is just about the most fun, silly, enjoyable way to raise money that I've ever experienced.
For over eight years, our TallGrass team and EAPL volunteers, along with support from Creekside Cellars and Evergreen National Bank, have created a wild, wet afternoon of laughter. These days, I'm not personally washing as many dogs as I once did - my all-time record was 35 - but just being there to watch the fun is pure joy. And it's an incredible photo opportunity, too! There will be different sizes and shapes of dogs with all kinds of reactions to being bathed, dried, and adorned with
celebratory bandanas. We'll even have a photo booth with props so humans can dress up their dogs and snap a picture of them in costume, all sparkling clean and happy. One of my favorite moments was when SIX Bassett Hounds arrived with one woman handler. The dogs just walked right into our wading pools, calmly and obediently, ready for their shampoo/style. Hilarious!
If you want to join the fun, please come. EAPL will have dogs for adoption, and for $20 you can have a glass of wine or a bottle of water and watch while we wash your dog.
See you on July 15, from 10:00 to 3:00, at the Evergreen National Bank drive-thru in downtown Evergreen. And, don't forget to bring your camera!
Gail Sharp is the owner of TallGrass Aveda Spa and Salon.
