Earth Month 2016
The Colorado River sustains over 40 million people in 7 states, supports 15% of the nation's food supply, and fills 2 of the largest reservoirs. Due to a 14-year drought and overuse of the river, reservoirs have lost over half of their water and the once lush Colorado River Delta - where the river meets
the sea - is dry. This dire assessment is from a report by Western Resource Advocates which works to protect the West's land, air and water. Here's what we're doing at TallGrass during Earth Month to raise funds that will help Western Resource Advocates find solutions for drying rivers and reservoirs.
In the Nail Salon, a Products We Love Basket filled with Aveda and Eminence items as well as nail care necessities, valued at $250, is being offered in a drawing with tickets available for a suggested donation.
A Bake Sale organized by the gals in the Retail department will tempt staff with sweet and savory treats in our breakroom.
Eminence Biodynamic Gift Sets are featured in drawings being organized by our estheticians. The sets, packaged in attractive bamboo boxes, feature collections of travel-sized skin care items (value $118). Tickets are available for a suggested donation.
Elsewhere in the spa, Eminence Elevations can be added to any body treatment for a small donation and in the Hair Salon there are more options for supporting clean water projects.
On a global level, sales of Aveda's light the way™ Earth Month candles benefit the water-related projects of Global Greengrants Fund, with 100% of the $12 purchase price helping protect water for animals, kids and the environment. Over the last 9 years, Aveda's light the way™ candle sales have raised more than $11 million to support over 1,500 water projects around the world.
